| During the economic boom of '50's West Germany, a promiscuous young girl named Rosemarie rises from her sordid lower-class roots to become the mistress of a wealthy business tycoon, but, when he is unwilling to leave his aristocratic fiance, Rosemarie turns to a torrid prostitution and blackmail scheme involving the nation's most powerful industrial leaders. Nina Hoss stars in this period drama as Rosemarie, an ambitious and beautiful young woman who dreams of sloughing off her working class background to become part of Germany's post WWII social elite. Rosemarie gets her first taste of high living as a prostitute, gradually accumulating a clientele that includes many of Germany's most elite businessmen and politicians. Soon, she is helping an unscrupulous businessman blackmail some of her clients, adding to her riches while further insuring that she will never be able to marry an aristocrat and genuinely belong to the social elite.
